A cherished, pink-colored, long-time institution in the nation's capital could soon marry up with a popular, red-accented, new one, in an effort to make the former an even better one.
Say what?
The National Park Service and Capital Bikeshare are working together to install five new stations in areas around the Tidal Basin. The plan is to do so before the start of this year’s National Cherry Blossom Festival.
With next to no parking down there, and the closest Metro stops a hike away, this is great news for festival- goers. This year’s celebration will mark the 100th anniversary of the gift from Japan.
And a head’s up (literally!) for new visitors and new bikers - watch out for those low, overhanging tree limbs!
