With the blooms past peak, and clouds and rain moving in this morning, it’s time to wrap up our pink and white coverage.
So, when did they peak? How well the predictions? What were the best days?
On March 2, DeFoe predicted March 24-31. Last week, he moved it up to the 24-28. Jason Samenow of the Capital Weather Gang pushed it to the 18 to 22.
Day before yesterday the National Park Service said the peak day was Tuesday, March 20. That was the official start of the Festival so it certainly worked out that way.
Weather-wise, we got thrown a meteorological curve ball in the form of a marine layer. I would say stubborn marine layer, but they always seem to be that way. Viewing on Monday to Thursday was affected with afternoons better than mornings, but not always. Yesterday was past peak but with the weather warm from the start of the morning, Friday the 23rd was probably the best overall day.
