Cruised down to my hometown earlier this week to spend a few days with the family that lived beside us in Greensboro for many years. The Millers are good people, always great to see them.
We went to see the Grasshoppers (Low A, Marlins) play Tuesday night and Wednesday day game. Greensboro won the first half of the season and looked impressive, winning both games. No fireworks until next week, but the hot bat of Brent Keys produced five hits in the pair to raise his league-leading average from 355 to 362.
A lot has changed in this Piedmont city, but Greensboro is rock solid when it comes to its food temples. Stamey’s BBQ, Bill’s Pizza Pub, Country Barbeque, oh my, heaven on earth. The latter not only has great 'cue, but their tenderloin chicken biscuit for breakfast is to die for.
Good to be back home, but good to have taken an unplugged break. Gaining a pound never felt better.
Taking Highway 29 is a nice, scenic alternative to 95/85.
The ballpark fits snugly into downtown.
A big thrill when our parents took us to see the "G-Yanks" in the '60s. Memorial Stadium was a classic ballpark and the team drew well, but nothing like the new ballpark where attendance has doubled and tripled.
