There were some sad dogs and fishermen when Jones Point Park closed two years ago. All hail the re-opening, set for July 5.
We sent our photojournalist out today for a sneak preview. Out the door he went, mumbling something about the heat and humidity, and came back complaining about the long walk and lack of sightlines for the south side.
Nevertheless, he got these photos and said he had a fun, geeky moment when he took this photo of a new entrance road that runs from S. Royal to the new parking lot and play area. The direction of this road more or less follows the first line laid out for the District of Columbia in 1791.
Course the dogs won't care about that. They're ready to re-claim their territory!
