I learned yesterday that the official re-opening of Jones Point Park was this morning. Tough call, but National Book Festival got bumped to tomorrow.
The park opened on July 5th. Today was the ceremony. Good call, much nice weather. Excellent turnout. Congressman Moran noted how the park was once a “neglected corner of the city.” Mayor Euille recalled spending time there as a youth.
I met Matthew R. Virta with the NPS. He worked with Pam Cressey on the 20 interpretive markers. I told him someone ought to give them an award for their extraordinary efforts.
Anyway, this is a great open space for the public. Hope you enjoy it.
