Last October we took a look at re-development in the northern part of Old Town. A one-year later update is on my to-do list, but in case I don’t get to it, here’s the short version.
It is amazing how much the landscape is changing in Parker-Gray. They even spruced up the McDonalds!
Old Town Commons will eventually stand on six blocks. The homes on the right are in the Parker Gray Historic District and protected from tear down.
The Asher is close to opening up. An old warehouse was located here. Coffee lovers will have a short walk to Nicole's Cafe, Starbucks, and McDonalds.
"The Kingely," home to a new Harris Teeter. And if you've been longing for grits, you're in heaven, the Royal Restaurant has them. They're also one of the few remaining traditional breakfast diners.
Printers Row at the end of N. Fairfax. This is not in Parker-Gray and is one of the few new spots in Old Town's northeast corner.
The Madison, the big dig. Parker-Gray Middle School was located just to the left. The first Parker Gray was located a few blocks over where the Rec Center is.
