Subject: Your tough season-ending loss
Dear Washington Nationals,
Given what happened in Game Five of the NLDS on Friday night, I know it is very tough for you right now. Some are even saying you are scarred and the loss will haunt you for years.
As someone who has dealt with tough setbacks and heartbreaking losses, let me offer my wise counsel.
First of all, it’s ok to feel bad. You worked so hard, only to come up short.
But remember, you win and lose as a team. And when the wound heals, and it will soon heal, you can begin another quest. You are talented, young, and your future is bright.
Chin up guys, and thanks for a great 2012 season. You saw the magic you created at Nationals Park. On that starry night, 45,000 fans were glued to their seats, tens of thousands of others watching at bars and in their homes. And how about all the Curly W caps around town? (I have to admit they make me feel good).
Your hard work will not go for naught. You planted the seed of good things to come in Washington. It’s going to be fun to watch those fruits grow and turn ripe.
Get some rest and we will see you in March.
Respectfully,
George
