Posting is a bit light. Currently heavy with fine-tuning the chapter introductions, and trying to find some time to get started on Steve Vogel’s new book, “Through the Perilous Fight.” He begins with FSK, a siren song I could not resist.
We also now see the release of “The Summer of Beer and Whiskey: How Brewers, Barkeeps, Rowdies, Immigrants, and a Wild Pennant Fight Made Baseball America's Game” by Ed Achorn. Will not have the time for this one but wish I did.
One thing Giants fans should note is the 1883 season Tim Keefe had with the New York Metropolitans. Sir Timothy earned a 19.7 WAR.
And it’s interesting that among the four “Troy Boys” who went on to make the Hall of Fame - Connor, Ewing, Welch and Keefe - Keefe was the only one who did not go to the Giants in 1883. Instead he played in the AA for the 1883 and 1884 season.
