We now spell the river Occoquan. The road, on the map, I believe, crosses at Colchester. This is now the Old Colchester Road, and was part of the old post road in Colonial days.
The bldg is, I believe, the site of Pohick Church, which was moved northward to its present site. The Cranford United Methodist Church is now there.
Crossing Pohick Creek, we then reach Accotink Creek. The three way split, I believe, is present day Pohick Road, Telegraph Road and Route 1. I’m sure, however, there are parts that don’t exactly match up.
Dogue Creek is next, then Little Hunting Creek, then Great Hunting Creek, which is Alexandria, and you can see where the other road meets up. This would have been the village of Cameron, now the Eisenhower Metro Station and Hoffman 22.
4 Mile Run is next.
It’s interesting that Alexandria is not marked at least with tobacco warehouses, but then again, the town was not founded until 1749.
The road west from Great Hunting Creek seems to be what is now Little River Turnpike/Duke Street, but the angle does not quite look right.
