Wish I had time to read this one. Les Expos tugged on my heart in the early 80s after I saw Geddy wearing their jersey. Neil wore Les Expos cap during the recording of Moving Pictures.
When we had front row middle seats to RUSH in Greensboro for the Signals tour, I lent my Expos cap to my friend Robert. I wore my Giants SF cap. “And the boy pulls down his baseball cap…”
1982 was my favorite team with Al Oliver, Chris Speier, Raines, Dawson, Cromartie and Steve Rogers. Cromartie was friends with Geddy, and even mentioned him in his autobiography.
For their Signals album, Rush acknowledged the Expos and Cromartie.
Anyway, what could have been, and now as a Nationals fan, I have to realize most Expos fans could probably care less about Washington.
And isn’t it cruel that you have to click on the Nats at Baseball Reference to get the Expos franchise info?
But, hey, Senators fans know all about losing your team. It’s like the De Niro line in the movie “Analyze This” – “He got ran over by a truck – twice.”
