The New Year is bringing some cold and windy weather today. Fortunately, there are warm distractions.
Along with half of Fairfax County, we enjoyed National Treasure yesterday. Rotten Tomatoes gives this flick a very low 43% rating, but the popcorn lovers strongly disagree. Roberta likes good movies so I was worried she wouldn’t like this one too much. Not to worry, she loved it too.
On Monday, I picked up a copy of The Hardball Times Baseball Annual 2008. Although I don’t need another reminder of the poor play of the Giants and Nats, it’s a great way to start off the New Year.
My favorite pieces so far are John Brattain’s The Decline and Fall of the MLBPA, Vince Gennaro’s The Dollar Value of Player Development and Jonathon Helfgott’s The Growing Game Abroad, The Changing Game at Home.
On the back inner sleeve, there’s information touting Bill James's new website and book. His book, out this spring, is The Bill James Gold Mine 2008. He’s touting it as similar to his Abstracts.
The website is up in beta.
Stay warm. The outside will match the inside before you know it!
