Dear readers and book lovers,
I have teamed up with Valerie Ianieri and the good folks at the Old Town Shop to start an “Author Night” event. It will be held every other Thursday night at their place in Old Town (105 S. Union).
The first one kicks off tomorrow, Thursday, November 2, from 5 to 7 pm. Ted Pulliam, author of “Historic Alexandria, An Illustrated History,” will be on hand to sign copies of his book. Available in both hard and soft cover, Historic Alexandria is a narrative history of the city from the earliest Indians to the present (2011), and was published by the Office of Historic Alexandria.
Pulliam is the author of historical articles published in The Washington Post, American History magazine, WWII History magazine, Legal Times, and other publications and appeared in the PBS documentary “Discovering Alexandria: The 20th Century.”
On Thursday, November 16, Michael Lee Pope will be on hand. The author of four books on Northern Virginia history, Pope is an award-winning journalist who lives in Old Town Alexandria. He has reported for NPR, Northern Virginia Magazine and the Alexandria Gazette Packet.
Stay tuned for more upcoming authors and be sure and check out the Old Town Shop’s Facebook page.
The events are free with no registration required!
